What are the cooling methods for dry-type transformers?
2024-03-23
The heat dissipation methods of dry-type transformers mainly include the following types:
- Natural cooling: This is a basic heat dissipation method for dry-type transformers, primarily relying on natural convection for cooling. Dry-type transformers with natural cooling are usually equipped with heat-absorbing plates that lower the operating temperature of the transformer by absorbing and releasing moisture from the air. The advantages of this method are its simple structure, noiseless operation, reliable use, and low failure rate, but its cooling effect is limited, making it mainly suitable for low-power dry-type transformers.
- Forced air cooling: This method lowers the temperature of the transformer by forcing air circulation through a fan. Dry-type transformers with forced air cooling are generally equipped with fans and coolers, offering good heat dissipation and a wide range of adaptability. With the development of power technology and the gradual increase in the power of dry-type transformers, forced air cooling has increasingly become the mainstream cooling method for dry-type transformers. Under forced air cooling, the output capacity of the transformer can be increased by 50%.
- Indirect air cooling: This heat dissipation method involves heat exchange through air ducts and heat sinks inside the transformer body, utilizing external cooling air that enters the duct to exchange heat with the internal heat exchanger, thereby achieving heat dissipation. This method is widely used in large substations and power plants.
- Water cooling: This method achieves heat dissipation through heat exchangers and water pipes inside the transformer body, utilizing circulating water flowing internally to exchange heat with external cooling water.
